Overview

Spathe is currently searching for a Unmanned Systems (UxS) Safety and Operations Support Analyst to join our team in the Virginia Beach, VA area.

Responsibilities

  • UxS SA shall complete all required command orientation/ indoctrination training, UxS on-the-job training and program overview.
  • Conduct UxS program reviews and assess capability needs to meet UxS mission requirements and provide recommendations to NSWG-8 N37 UxS Division) leadership or other Divisions as directed.
  • Develop courses of action to ensure UxS capabilities are maintained and ready to meet mission tasking.
  • Monitor and be familiar with UxS technology developments.
  • Provide Aviation Safety Officer (ASO) training and program overview as required.
  • Provide Laser Safety training and program overview as required.
  • Complete necessary requirements for obtaining access to certain government sites relevant in the performance of duties.
  • Completed or be prepared to complete an official U.S. Navy laser safety course of instruction, certifying he or she is qualified to perform the functions of an Administrative Laser Safety Officer (ALSO) and/or Laser System Safety Officer (LSSO).
  • Perform detailed analysis to develop Safety Investigation Reports within 90-days of occurrence of reports mishaps.
  • Develop and submit a Quarterly Safety Reports within 10-days after the end of each Fiscal Year (FY) quarter.
  • Ensure proper industrial safety procedures are followed in accordance with assigned contract and appropriate federal, state, and local regulations, rules, and procedures.
  • Provide administrative support including generating weekly reports on systems and personnel readiness, and maintaining all UxS related departmental files, records, and publications.
  • Liaise with the NSWG-8 N4 logisticians and data analysts to provide operationalized data and a common operating picture to the N3 Operations leadership.
  • Provide written reports which are clear, concise and meaningful for all aviation safety, laser safety, and environmental matters as require.
  • Provide technical support in all types of safety/environmental issues such as data gathering and analysis, training, and correspondence for assigned customers, etc.
  • Perform duties as an active member of an aircraft mishap board (AMB) as required.
  • Develop reports, conduct metrics analysis, conduct briefings, safety training, and when directed conduct quarterly safety and semi-annual safety stand-down meetings.
  • Maintain accident and incident records, files, and reports. Requires data entry and corrections to files on an as needed basis.
  • Develop and maintain information technology files and confirm when corrective actions have been properly completed.
  • Process occupational and aviation hazard reports including investigating the hazard and ensuring mitigations are in place.

Qualifications

  • At least three (3) years’ experience working with Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA), Environmental Protection Act (EPA),Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), National Transportation SafetyBoard (NTSB) International Civil Aviation Organization (CAO), and other applicable federal, state and local regulations.
  • Completed the government approved Naval School of Aviation Safety ASO course of instruction (CIN: S4J-3302).
  • At least three (3) years’ experience working with aircraft accident investigation and reporting.
  • At least three (3) years’ experience working with in the technical field of aviation safety and accident prevention, to include experience in use of Department of Defense (DoD), Federal Aviation Regulation (FAA), National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) or International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) documents.
  • At least two (2) years’ experience using Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and associated regulatory requirements.
  • At least two (2) years’ experience using SHARP, COLTS and Navy 3M.
  • At least three (3) years’ experience conducting briefings in front of large audiences or leadership meetings.
  • Previous experience in the SOF community is highly desirable.
  • At least three (3) years’ experience performing high level, expert analysis, and/or methodologies used to develop complex solutions to requirements.
  • At least six (6) years of hands-on administrative/program management experience within DOD or Navy.
  • At least six (6) years of Naval Aviation experience as Naval Aviator or Naval Flight Officer.
  • At least three (3) years of technical experience with Naval Aviation Safety program management.
  • At least two (2) years of experience within the past three years with developing metrics, reports, presentations that were part of the decision-making process for the Command.
  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in related field OR Five (5) years’ collective experience in a combination of the following areas: Safety Management, Industrial Hygiene, and Aviation Safety and Environmental management.
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CLH) preferred.
