Spathe is currently searching for a Senior Capture Manager to join our team in the Tampa, FL area.

 

Spathe Systems is a rapidly growing SOF led, 8(a) defense contractor headquartered in Tampa, FL with offices in Fayetteville, NC and strategic partner locations in Virginia Beach and Coronado. Responsibilities

The Senior Capture Manager is responsible for identifying, shaping, and securing new business opportunities across SPATHE’s core portfolios within target customers and other Defense and Federal customer sets.

 

This role bridges strategic business development and disciplined capture management to expand SPATHE’s market presence, drive pipeline growth, and improve overall win probability (PWIN) for targeted pursuits. The position requires a self-driven leader with a deep understanding of the federal acquisition lifecycle, strong customer engagement skills, and the ability to lead cross-functional teams through all phases of business capture and proposal development.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Business Development & Customer Engagement:

  • Identify, qualify, and shape new opportunities within SPATHE’s target portfolios (SOCOM, JSOC, NSW, TAO, and related Defense customers).
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with government stakeholders, primes, and partners to position SPATHE for upcoming requirements.
  • Gather, analyze, and translate customer intelligence into actionable capture strategies and pursuit recommendations.
  • Represent SPATHE at customer meetings, industry engagements, and networking forums to strengthen brand visibility and pipeline access.

Capture Management:

  • Lead end-to-end capture activities for assigned pursuits, from opportunity qualification through proposal submission.
  • Develop capture plans, competitive assessments, win strategies, and teaming recommendations aligned with SPATHE’s business objectives.
  • Coordinate with Solution Architects, Operations, and Pricing to design compliant, cost-effective, and differentiated offerings.
  • Conduct internal reviews (e.g., Gate, Black Hat, or Blue Team sessions) and provide data-driven updates to executive leadership.
  • Manage teaming and subcontracting relationships to ensure alignment with strategy, technical capability, and pricing goals.

Strategic Enablement & Organizational Development:

  • Contribute to the standardization and maturity of SPATHE’s capture and BD processes, including pipeline reporting, Pwin analysis, and pursuit tracking.
  • Mentor junior BD or capture staff, reinforcing best practices and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Support talent acquisition and partnership development to strengthen SPATHE’s ability to scale for future pursuits.
  • Collaborate with Operations and Program Management to ensure seamless transitions from capture to execution.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in Federal Capture Management, Business Development, or Program Management, preferably within Defense, SOF, or Federal IT/C5ISR domains.
  • Proven success leading captures or pursuits valued at $20M+ within the DoD or Federal contracting environment.
  • Strong understanding of government acquisition processes (FAR/DFARS) and customer mission requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams through capture and proposal lifecycles.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and BD/Capture tools (GovWin, GovDash, or similar).
  • Active Secret clearance or eligibility for higher-level clearance.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Prior military, acquisition, or defense industry experience supporting SOCOM, JSOC, or related mission sets.
  • Familiarity with Shipley or equivalent capture and proposal methodologies.
  • Experience supporting a mid-tier growth transition organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, mentor, and lead capture or BD professionals.
